Coinbase:

In a nutshell, Coinbase is a cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to buy, sell and store more than 100 different digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and many more. Nevertheless, the native Coinbase wallet is not one of the most widely used on NFT marketplaces. Hence, you are often required to send your Ethereum from Coinbase to another wallet like MetaMask.

As always, we are here with you to make you people acquainted with this. In this blog, we will provide you with a complete guide that will help you learn how to transfer Ethereum from Coinbase to MetaMask.

But before we dive into it, let’s discuss a bit about MetaMask.

MetaMask Wallet:

Many DEXs are available in the market, such as Aave, OpenSea, and Kava. In pursuit of accessing those DEXs, you will need a way to communicate with their protocols. Enter MetaMask, which is a cryptocurrency wallet that enables users to access the Web 3 ecosystem of decentralized applications (dapps).

It is a non-custodial wallet that can be accessed from your browser (Extension) or mobile (App) and it offers complete control over one’s assets. This can be installed like any regular extension. Post installation, it allows users to store Ether and other ERC-20 tokens, allowing them to make transactions to any Ethereum address.

Here, we have created this step-by-step guide to make it a cakewalk for you. So, let’s get started-

Step1. The first step to sending and receiving your Ethereum is to obtain the address of the receiving wallet. For that, you need to open your metamask extension on your browser and copy the address available underneath the heading “Account 1”.

Step 2. Go to the Coinbase website and “sign in” using your email address and password.

Step 3. After sign in, click the “Send and Receive” option available on your dashboard in the top right corner of your screen. A pop-up will get open in the middle of your screen.

Step 4. Now, fill in the required details. Ensure that you fill the fields correctly to guarantee your Ethereum goes to the correct wallet - a warning will appear if you enter an invalid Ethereum address. If you send cryptocurrency to the wrong address, you will not be able to get it back. Hence, always be vigilant and ensure to copy your wallet address.

Amount field: Enter the amount of Ethereum you want to send.

Pay with: Ethereum

To: Here you need to paste the MetaMask wallet address that you have copied before –

 e.g.       0x877244168221C612345678910111217065243B

Note: This field is optional. But you can add a note as to why this money is being sent.

Step 5. After filling in all the details, click the “Continue” button. A confirmation window will appear, there you can check all details of your transaction including the gas fee. Just go through the details once and click “Send Now”.

If you have 2-step verification enabled, you will now be prompted to enter the code from your authenticator app or text message. Complete this and then press the “confirm” button.

Finally, you will get a screen confirming your transaction. Now, when you will go back to the MetaMask wallet, you will see that you have received the balance.
